Sailboat Charters - Diving & Snorkeling

The uniqueness of the islands has captivated explorers and visitors for a long, long time.  Millions come to the Caribbean or the Florida Keys every year to enjoy the incredible coral reef systems, the clear azure blue waters and world class diving and snorkeling in clear azure blue waters of many feet of visibility to view large schools of colorful fish and coral formations. There are so many wonderful  and beautiful things to see under the sea.  Hundreds of different species of colorful tropical fish, lobsters, turtles, rays, crabs and beautiful colored coral, all breathtaking and exciting.  Swim over one of the  many wrecks lying on the ocean floor to see some dating back to much earlier times.. Once a year “Wreck Week” is celebrated in June. A fun time for all.

During your sailboat charter you will want to head to Anegada Island in the Caribbean, a 10 mile long coral island with miles of white sand beaches and where, just off the island is located famous Horseshoe Reef, one of the worlds largest barrier coral reefs in the world.   Anegada is very sparsely populated with only about 200 or so residents who are talented in different forms of art and sell their wares in quaint shops, also the Anegadans are very skilled fishermen selling their catch to the surrounding islands in the Caribbean.  There is an airport in Anegada with scheduled flights for Tortola, Virgin Gorda and St. Thomas.  Also a taxi service.  A unique place to visit.  Do check with your sailboat charter company as some have restrictions on bareboat sailboat charters going to Anegada unless they either have a licensed experienced captain on board or the charterer has been checked out as being qualified for this trip.

The Florida Keys diving and snorkeling on the only living reef in North America.  You can see over 500 different species of colorful tropical fish and 50 varieties of beautiful colored coral along with sponges, jellyfish, crabs, rays, turtles and lobsters.  Float over breathtaking brightly colored coral and schools of fish.  There are numerous shipwrecks around the Florida Keys.  One can snorkel on the shallow reefs or for the more experienced divers on the deeper reefs where you can view wrecks of ancient ships dating back to 1622.  Wreck diving is very popular at night. Make sure you have a nautical chart showing locations of the different dive sites around the Florida Keys.  Under water photography is taught and equipment may be rented or purchased.  Snuba diving is a unique way to experience underwater exploring. A way that combines scuba diving and snorkeling.  The oxygen comes from a floating air tank system to which you are connected with a long tube.  Both PADI and NAVI certifications are accepted, you must present your card.

At the end of your exciting sailboat charter vacation you will have so many tales to tell the folks back home of all the wonders you have seen and show all the photos you have taken.  What wonderful memories for a lifetime.  You probably cannot wait to do it over again.
